Ethics in health and welfare technology

Discover our first micro-credential on ethics in health and welfare technology, designed for students and professionals in health and IT. Gain essential insights through real-world case examples. Join us in shaping the future of health technology education.

Part of the Care about IT -project is to develop and create 6 micro-credentials regarding health technology and skills required in health technology. Creation of micro-credentials is part of work package 7, which is about developing education and promoting lifelong learning. Finland is responsible of organizing the development, but micro-credentials are created in collaboration with all the partner countries. The first micro-credential has been developed and created in Turku Vocational Institute after feedback from partner countries.

Test version of the first micro-credential has been released in early November 2024 and it is regarding ethics in health and welfare technology. Ethics as a subject is universal in the sense that it forms the basis for usage and research and development of health technology. Titles for the next 5 micro-credentials are as follows:

  • Micro credential 2:  Introduction to health technology

  • Micro credential 3: Multidisciplinary skills in health technology

  • Micro credential 4: 21st century skills

  • Micro credential 5:  Creative and critical thinking in health technology

Title and subject for micro-credential 6 is yet to be decided.

Test version of the first micro-credential is available at https://tinyurl.com/hvt-etiikka . Level of the micro-credential is EQF 4, scope is 1 ECTS / 27 hour.  It is aimed at practical nursing students and information and computing technology students. It is also suitable for everyone who is interested in ethical issues regarding health technology. To gain micro-credential, students must answer case examples. They can be accessed directly from the beginning of micro-credential.

Micro-credential is created with Thinglink -software. Platform for issuing micro-credentials is to be decided. Current version is in Finnish, but it can be translated to English within Thinglink so that it can be tested. English manuscript will be delivered to each country captain within this year.
