The second day of the TPM took place at the Ospedale Michele e Pietro Ferrero, a large and modern university hospital beautifully located on a hill between Alba and Bra. While the former city hospitals in Alba and Bra now mainly function as local health centres offering selected medical services, this central hospital serves the wider region, as travelling to the main hospital is not equally easy for everyone.
The morning programme focused on work package 7, led by our Finnish partners. We shared updates on the progress of the MCs in each country and discussed the different ways these MCs are tested across partner countries. Before lunch, Finland also presented the programme for the teacher exchange planned for November 2026, explicitly inviting all partners to provide input and suggestions.
After a lunch kindly sponsored by Ferrero, we were given the opportunity to visit the @labsi simulation laboratory. The lab features three simulation rooms where realistic medical scenarios can be practiced. High‑fidelity simulation manikins such as pregnant Victoria, Sofia and Alle allow hospital teams to train in lifelike situations. The rooms are exact replicas of emergency department settings, ensuring training conditions that closely reflect real clinical practice.
In addition to scenario training, the lab also offers facilities for medical professionals to practice specific skills, such as inserting a chest drain or performing ultrasound examinations. The photos give a good impression of this impressive learning environment.
With this inspiring visit, we brought the second day to a close and made our way back together, walking towards the bus stop under the Italian sun.
