Forum on Vocational Excellence and World Skills in Lyon, France

World Skills 2024 kicked off on 10 September 2024, coinciding with the joint Forum on Vocational Excellence for all CoVE projects. Care about IT had attendees from all partner countries (the Netherlands, Finland, Italy and Estonia) in the Forum.

In addition to attending these events, we also had a joint meeting for the whole project at Eurexpo, the venue of World Skills. We were happy to be able to meet in person again, as Care about IT is currently working on work packages on microcredentials (the first focusing on the ethics of health tech), guidance and recruitment and innovation (national and international hackathons). In international projects, it is important to be able to talk with all partners and exchange ideas, experiences and practices from different countries.

Aside from our partners in Care about IT we got new ideas from other CoVE projects, for example how to get companies excited and committed to projects. One of the key learnings was the importance of defining the why and how companies should get involved in a CoVE project.

The slogan of World Skills and its conference was “Moving TVET to the top of global education!”. The keynote speakers and panelists all underlined the importance of vocational education and working together for this goal. CoVEs are the way to reshape the future of TVET and skills.

Thank you to our partners in Care about IT for good discussions and developing together!

Skilly, the Finnish mascot for Skills, welcoming you all to Turku and to the Skills competition in May 2025.

The next live partner meeting will be in Turku, Finland in May 2025 during the Finnish Skills competition. There we will have a joint meeting to go through all the work packages, evaluate and make plans for the coming year. Care about IT will also visit the Skills competition and especially the skill 315 Welfare Technology, where two of Care about IT’s own teachers are Skills Competition Managers (Minna Ikiviita and Jenni Suonpää). In 315 Welfare Technology practical nurses and welfare technology installers work together as pairs. During this meeting we will also have a conference about health technology.
